Willow Street, PA

Favorite Place on campus: Beautiful Haas building, which I remember as the old library.

Favorite Muhlenberg Tradition: Freshman/Sophomore tug of war

First Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: Chairing my 40th reunion. I was a late-comer!

Experiences as a Muhlenberg Volunteer: Chairing the 40th, 45th and 50th reunions of the Class of 1964. With full support from creative and diligent classmates on our large reunion committees, we revived class spirit, reunion attendance, and giving to the College.

Most Recent Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: Serving on the HMMS Committee and contributing ideas to make the successful HMMS even more so in the future.

Most Impactful Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: Conceiving of, implementing and promoting the Class of 1964 Scholarship Fund.  Our scholarship is now approaching $300,000 and, with promised College Trustees' matching funds, well on its way, by our 55th reunion, to at least $500,000 -- the College's largest class scholarship fund.

Favorite Place on Campus: Parents Plaza

Favorite Muhlenberg Tradition:
Alumni/Reunion Weekend

Experiences as a Muhlenberg Volunteer:
I started small, volunteering for Freshman Move-In day and getting to know the staff and other volunteers. I came to other campus and off-campus events, joined Henry Melchior Muhlenberg Society and The Circle of 1848, started coming back for alumni weekend, and then actively working on my past 2 reunions. I then was elected to the Alumni Board and served as Secretary and today as President.

First Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience:
First Year Move-in Day

Most Recent Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience:
Senior Class Connections Campaigns Wine and Cheese Event

Most Impactful Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience:
Co-chairing our 40th Reunion Committee. We had a great reunion weekend with a record turn-out and a wonderful class dinner with lots of activities and opportunities for connecting with classmates all weekend. The feedback we received was overwhelming, and now I eagerly anticipate our 45th reunion. I enjoy connecting with other alumni and engaging with students.

My desire to be a volunteer and ambassador for Muhlenberg stems from three factors: believing that my liberal arts education at Muhlenberg prepared me well for work, my own parents' long-standing commitment to a life of volunteerism and the inspiring stories and experiences of the students that choose Muhlenberg for their undergraduate education.

Favorite Place on Muhlenberg's Campus: Parents' Plaza on a sunny day

Favorite Muhlenberg Tradition: Either the senior toast under Victor's Lament... or how the sports teams would always put up spray painted sheets in Parents' Plaza before a home game. I remember doing that as a freshman on the Volleyball team.

First Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: Alumni Week - psychology department, Dr. Lassiter's Health Psychology class.

Experiences as a Muhlenberg Volunteer: It is always so good to be back "home." It makes my heart hurt! I had a wonderful time meeting the students in Dr. Lassiter's class, especially because they were from had several different majors, as I was too. I hoped I could ease some of their nerves about not "having it all figured out" yet.  They had some great questions about my time in marketing research and experiences with healthcare professions. The mindfulness exercises that Dr. Lassiter taught were something that I could carry on to my patients. Even as a speech language pathologist, I still have a fair amount of counseling in helping patients through many difficult times such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, swallowing difficulty, etc.

Most Recent Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: Alumni Week. This was my first time - but I would love to come back again!

Astoria, N.Y.

Favorite Place on campus: Academic Row

Favorite Muhlenberg Tradition:
Candlelight ceremonies

First Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: Cardinal Key Society

Experiences as a Muhlenberg Volunteer: First Year Move-In Day welcome volunteer; Henry Melchior Muhlenberg Society (H.M.M.S.) committee, self-declared #Mulementum cheerleader

Most Recent Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: H.M.M.S. Committee thank you cards

Most Impactful Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: First Year Move-In Day welcome volunteer - I actually enjoy talking to the parents, in this case, more than the students and getting to help calm their fears about dropping their students off. Telling parents some of my most treasured Muhlenberg memories lets them know what students can look forward to experiencing. Watching the students' ears perk up at some of those stories is fun too!

Lauren Wink '12

Philadelphia, PA

Favorite Place on campus:
Parent's Plaza

Favorite Muhlenberg Tradition: Midnight Breakfast and Senior Year Experience's Top Chef Competition - I was captain of the winning team!

First Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: My first Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience was joining the Alumni Club of Philadelphia. We met monthly to discuss and plan upcoming events in the city to bring alumni together.

Experiences as a Muhlenberg Volunteer: During my time on campus, I was a campus tour guide, campus delegate and secretary of the Cardinal Key Society. After a few months of moving to Philadelphia, I decided to attend a volunteer meeting in the city to brainstorm ideas for alumni events and to learn more about the Philadelphia alumni chapter. At this point, I decided to join the planning committee, and increased my involvement with the Philadelphia chapter. My roles included helping to plan alumni events around the city -  speakers, happy hours and more. I also gave the toast at the past three T.H.A.W. events. A few months ago, the president of the Philadelphia chapter decided to continue his involvement with the chapter, but step down. This is when he nominated me to the next President of the chapter. I have greatly enjoyed not only meeting new alumni in the area, but also collaborating with the other planning committee members.

Most Recent Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience:
Most recently, we planned a Saturday alumni event that included a tour of Reading Terminal Market, ending with free Bassett's Ice-Cream! Fun fact - the current president of Bassett's is a 'Berg alumnus! I met him at this year's T.H.A.W. event, and he immediately expressed interest in giving out ice cream at an event. I spoke with him about ideas, and we decided on a tour of the market ending with ice cream at his shop. We had a great turn out; in fact, we had to add an extra tour the day before so that we didn't run out of tickets!

Most Impactful Muhlenberg Volunteer Experience: I gave the T.H.A.W. toast the past 3 years. Aside from helping to plan the Philly event, and see it take place, it is also fun, and challenging, to write a toast to present at T.H.A.W. It gives me a chance to sit down and reminisce about my times on campus - classes, friends and my overall experience.
