Three Rings and a Mule
Kathryn Krull, Muhlenberg Class of 2012 graduate, is now the lead keyboardist for the new show presented by Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus' Blue Unit, “LEGENDS” touring show. She is the only female member of the nine-piece show band, the first woman they've had in over ten years and the first female keyboardist they've ever had with this current group. She joined the prior show “DRAGONS” in October, touring six major cities. The “LEGENDS” tour opened January 1 on a two year run. They play Philadelphia in February, prior to playing all of the NYC area arenas, including the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the Meadowlands.
|“The sheer fact that I'm working with performers that I have seen in this circus before is still shocking to me. But it's odd how similar accompanying elephants and motorcyclists is to accompanying ballet like I did at Muhlenberg in 2012-2013. It's all about knowing movement and choreography, just not with humans all the time! I am also thankful to have studied abroad at Muhlenberg because it really helps me knowing how to clown and knowing what to do for the show. I'm so honored to be a Muhlenberg graduate.”
Kathryn plays and programs the keyboard and runs all of the sound effects for the show. Her music and theatre background, supplemented by her background in physical theatre and clowning from her semester at the Accademia dell'Arte in Arezzo, Italy through Muhlenberg made her an ideal candidate for the job. She loves being in the circus, although life on the circus train has its challenges! Watch for her when the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus comes to a location near you. Though the circus has horses and donkeys, she'd love to see some Mules at the Greatest Show On Earth!
