Mule Madness 2014 Update

Update: Mule Madness is in its final days of play.  Remember to make your gift by April 6.  Cross country and track & field is currently competing against softball in the championship round of the main bracket, while the Consolation Bracket championship game features a matchup between football and women's basketball. Visit www.muhlenberg.edu/mulemadness for the latest bracketology report and to view this week's video commentary featuring Brad Hackett, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field and student-athlete Kelly Kline '14.

Mule Madness 2014 is now in its third full week of play.  Round 3 features the top four teams battling it out in a fierce competition.  This week, women’s softball hopes to pitch one past men’s lacrosse, while cross country and track & field attempt to run laps around baseball, last week’s surprise Wildcard Bid entry!

Varsity teams going head-to-head in the Consolation Bracket are also fired up.  The football team - last year’s Mule Madness champs - aren’t ready to give up just yet, and women’s soccer is looking for redemption after losing their spot in the semi-finals as a result of baseball having a higher participation percentage.  With Round 1 of the Consolation Bracket over, we unfortunately have to say goodbye to four teams:  volleyball, women’s lacrosse, wrestling and women’s tennis. However, these teams can still earn extra funds for their sport as part of the D-III Challenge.

There is a lot at stake in these final weeks, and Muhlenberg’s varsity athletes and sports fans need to stay focused and keep their heads in the game. While teams competing in the Consolation Bracket won’t be named champions of the overall challenge, they still have the opportunity to take home an additional $250 for their team through the D-III Challenge; and teams competing in the main Mule Madness bracket can secure an extra $1,000!  You can assist your team’s participation percentage now by making a gift.

Not sure how your team is stacking up?  Visit www.muhlenberg.edu/mulemadness for complete details including stats, bracketology and matchups.  And don’t forget to catch the latest video commentary featuring Softball Coach Marisa DeStasio and varsity basketball player Malique Killing ’15.
